Ukuaji pilot going well!

April 2, 2013

La Chica is delighted that her permaculture pilot project is going well!  Ukuaji – Swahili for growth – of plants and of people – started in November 2012 and the results are wonderful.  The Masai women of Longido are learning to grow food for the first time, empowering them to step up economically, and also ensure their children are well nourished with home-grown vegetables.  La Chica and el Chico visited Kimakoa to see the progress of one of the Ukuaji women’s farmer groups and were impressed to see vegetables thriving and the Masai children excited by the availability of fresh vegetables in their homes.
